Should i salvage rare items

If you need ecto, is it better to salvage your rares or sell them and just buy the ectoplasm? I normally tend to salvage them with a 'Mystic Salvage Kit', rares drop frequently enough especially when you do meta, events, and chest opening, you can get more ecto with each rare-exotic you salvage, and the chance of getting ecto is pretty good.

Just be sure the rare equipment you are salvaging is around the level 68 or higher range. My personal experience seems to support the idea that you're more likely than not to get at least one ecto, and therefore I salvage most of my rares. If I find a rare that's selling for more like 50—60 silver as staves occasionally do , that's when I consider posting it for sale instead.

I keep a few rare weapons for mystic forging but most things tend to get fed to the silver salvage of matic. Things like rare necklaces get sold on the trading post as i have terrible luck getting anything other than just mithril salvaging them.

I salvage rare armor and trinkets for ectos, sell rare weapons selling for at least 5 silver over the cost of an ecto, and put rare weapons selling for less than that into storage for throwing into the Forge when Mystic Forger is a daily. Rare staffs and greatswords tend to sell for more than ecto prices.

Its the rares player normally mystic forge that have a high value than ecto. You should average 1 ecto per rare salvage but get ecto each time. You may sometimes not always get ECTO, however, you did have an opportunity of getting 1 or more. So you should really not see it at a lost.

You can reference the data that has been put together already here. I salvage pretty much all rares I get. I pretty much salvage everything that sells for less than 1 gold. And more materials is always a good thing, you can always sell a stack of something for some easy gold.

I'm to the point where I just automatically salvage any and all rares I get, using the silver-fed salvage-o-matic. I mostly forge my rares until I find that I need ectos, and then I salvage them until I don't need ectos anymore, then it's back to the forge. I used to sell rare greatswords and staves, but I just salvage all now. I don't think it's worth the time to check.

I use Mystic Salvage Kits for salvaging rare equipment, so my rule of thumb is that I salvage rares that sell for less on the TP than a Glob of Ectoplasm costs, and sell rares that sell for more than that largely swords, greatswords and daggers. Posted by: ArchonWing. There are a few notable types particularly greatswords that are worth checking the price for.

The exception is when you are very poor and still need to constantly buy things, in which case getting a more constant flow of coin might be better as you may not be able to handle a bad streak of RNG well. In that case you want to sell. Posted by: altermaven. Often it may be better to just sell depending on your current state of funds. Posted by: vesica tempestas. Posted by: TEKnowledgy. I salvage everything, but I already have more gold then i actually need.

So ask yourself this do I need gold if yes sell it all. No pvp, no wvw, no fractals, and no dungeons just pure open world content. Anyways, what you do with your loots entirely up to you. Think we all manage things differently, find what works best for you and stick to it.

Then where didnall my luck came from after all those multiloots, I rarely salvage blues and greens.. Posted by: Sir Mad. I used to check the price on the TP and to sell it if it was worth more than an ecto as said above, you get 0. Posted by: Tumult. If you are actually getting a lot of these rares, you have another option. You could throw some in the mystic forge for a chance at a precursor. After many months of salvaging various materials with both a standard and expert salvage kit, I have concluded that if common crafting materials are desired, there is no quantity bonus by using the expert kit over the standard kit, with 1 exception.

Example: If I salvage a bow, and get 2 wood planks with a standard kit, I still only get 2 planks from an expert kit. The exception is any item taged as "Highly Salvageable" then the expert kit gets a larger number of the material than the standard salvage kit.

The chance of a rare material being extracted still exists for most items however. Example: Salvaging a crude axe might net an Steel Ingot, but won't net extra iron ingots. GuildWiki Explore.
