Thread starter bigdogdan2 Start date Jun 24, For the VW owners who've had the leatherette seats for a while, are there any issues with it compared to the real leather?

Do they get softer, wear and tear easier etc? Golf doesn't even have the fake leaterette either so I may be leaning more towards the Jetta but I'm wondering about the fake stuff It does soften up a bit and it wears like iron! The leatherette is very good, and wears better than the leather. Won't get that 'nutsackish' look after a few years like leather does. Thanks Oilhammer, I learned a new word today.

I'll have to make sure I use it in conversation so I don't forget it. Nutsackish: That is a perfect description of that slightly shriveled look the seat leather takes on after a few years.

Leather and Leatherette makes my butt sweat! Leatherette or vinyl what ever it is called is working fine. We've had ours since January We have a dog so leatherette would work better than a cloth seat.

Cleans us easy. I can't tell much difference between the leather in our 05 Passat and what we have in our 09 Jetta Sportwagen. This means it may not be the best option for pet owners or those with children. One of the largest benefits of leatherette seats is the price, as they are often significantly cheaper than genuine leather seats.

This is often enough of a deciding factor for many vehicle buyers. Though cheaper, leatherette seats are more durable, resisting scratches. Though some leatherette seats have small holes in them to make them breathe more, the material tends to soak in liquid less easily, which makes for easy clean up of spills or water.

As opposed to leather seats, this makes leatherette seats a great option for those with young kids. That being said, the best thing you can do is to schedule a test drive to experience them both for yourself. Your email address will not be published. Sales: Closed. Service: Closed.
